Ontario is large. At nearly 100,000 square miles larger than the U.S. State of Texas, it is still only the fifth largest province or territory in Canada. Nunavut, Quebec, Northwest Territories and British Columbia all have a greater area. As for European countries, just Russia has more land mass than this single Canadian province.
When it comes to residents, the population far exceeds that of any other Canadian province or territory – six million more than runner-up Quebec. Always on the grow, the population of Ontario has exceeded 16 million. Only the U.S. States of California, Texas, Florida and New York house more people.
